Front Plank on Ball

You will need a raised surface like a flat bench and an exercise ball. Place your hands on a flat bench and the top surface of your feet on the exercise ball.  Your back should be straight and your body should be slightly angled.  Contract your abs when in position, hold for 60 seconds and repeat.

Ball Oblique Crunches

Place either your left or right hip on an exercise ball.  To prohibit your body from moving from side to side during the exercise, place your feet against a wall.  Be sure to have only your hip touching the ball.  If your torso is touching, full range of motion will not be achieved.  After you are in position, simply dip down as if you were doing a regular oblique crunch.  Hold each rep for three seconds and do 10 reps on each side of your body.

Reverse Crunches

Regular reverse crunches aren’t anything special, but this reverse crunch exercise will work your abs hard.  Lie on a bench with just your back and head resting on it.  Allow your hips to hang off the end.  Pull your knees as close to your chest as you can and hold this position for three seconds before releasing.  Do 10 repetitions.

Windshield Wipers

Lay your back on a soft surface like a mat.  Lift your legs off of the ground and bend your knees at a 90 degree angle. Extend your arms on the mat to balance yourself during the exercise.  To get started, in a windshield-wiping motion, bring either your right or left leg down to the mat.  Be sure to not let your hips leave the ground.  Contract your abs throughout the exercise and do 10 repetitions on each side for one set.

Jack-knife

For this exercise you will have to have a fairly strong lower back.  Start laying flat on the ground with your arms extended and hands open above your head.  Raise your legs as high as you can while trying to touch your toes with your hands.  Hold the position for three seconds and do 10 repetitions.

Russian Twist

Lie on a decline bench with your thighs perpendicular to your torso.  Like the windshield wipers, your knees should be bent at a 90 degree angle.  To begin, carve a “U” out in the air in front of you, moving your legs in a semi-circular motion.  Do this motion for 60 seconds.  This is a hard, yet extremely effective exercise.
